1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CathSpend, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Service Description

CathSpend is a budget tracking application that helps users manage personal finances through natural language input and AI-powered insights.

2.1 Free Tier

  • Up to 50 transactions per month
  • Basic budget visualization
  • Manual transaction entry

2.2 Pro Tier ($5/month)

  • Unlimited transactions
  • AI-powered category inference
  • Weekly email reports
  • Data export (CSV/JSON)
  • Priority support

3. User Obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate account information
  • Keep your password secure
  • Not use the service for illegal purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer or hack the service
  • Not share your account with others

4. Payment Terms

4.1 Subscription

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly at $5 USD. Payment is processed via Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

4.2 Cancellation

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from Settings → Billing. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

4.3 Refund Policy

  • Within 30 days: Pro-rated refund available upon request
  • After 30 days: No refunds, but you can cancel anytime
  • Free tier: No charges, no refunds

5. Data and Privacy

Your use of CathSpend is also governed by our Privacy Policy. You retain ownership of your financial data. We use your data only to provide and improve the service.

6. Intellectual Property

CathSpend, including all software, design, content, and trademarks, is owned by us and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

CathSpend is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind.

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
  • We are not responsible for data loss (though we make backups)
  • We do not provide financial advice
  • Insights and categorizations are estimates, not guarantees

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CathSpend shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed $50 USD or the amount you paid in the last 12 months, whichever is greater.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

  • You: Delete your account via Settings
  • Us: Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United States.
